Configuring Different Client Software Configurations on one Workstation

Above all, this could make work more convenient. For instance, you're using a server with four record channels and two playback channels. A minimum of eight windows should be simultaneously displayed on the client station monitor in Air Manager: four windows for rec-lists, two for playlists, one Media Browser window, and one File Monitor window.

If there are other servers in the system (for example, graphics stations, loggers, a backup server with the same number of channels etc), displaying all those windows in one Air Manager on a client PC is surely possible, but it will be extremely inconvenient for an operator. It would be much easier to open a separate Air Manager application for the main playback and a separate one for backup, another Air Manager for recording, another one for editing graphics, another for viewing on-air recordings, and so on.

Specifically for such cases, SkyLark Technology has provided the option to distribute configurations of SL NEO client software functioning on one operator PC in random and convenient order, for example:

• configuration to manage the main air playback,
• configuration to manage backup air playback,
• configuration to control recording from VTR and external lines,
• configuration for graphics editing,
• configuration to view air recordings from a logger.

Copy the icon of any client application whose function you would like to distribute onto the Windows desktop of a client PC. Make as many copies on the desktop as you want and rename them whatever you want, depending on the desirable configuration.

Select the first icon copy, right-click it and choose Properties. Under the Label tab find the Object field, press space after quotations and enter a random name for a new configuration (Latin, without spaces).

Launch Air Manager (icon that corresponds the selected configuration) and configure the app in the new configuration accordingly.

Select the next icon copy, right-click it and choose Properties. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

This method allows setting several configurations on a single client station not only for Air Manager, but for any SL NEO platform client application.

Save all client application icons with changed Object window parameters from the source PC desktop.

Launch regedit on the client source PC, from which you want to copy settings for all SL NEO platform applications, and save the registry path as a *.reg file:

• for 64-bit Windows -

  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Skylark]

• for 32-bit Windows -

  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Skylark]

  .

Launch the obtained .reg file on the client PC, to which you wish to transfer settings, enter data to the register, then copy the saved client application icons to this PC desktop.

Please note that the method described above is not quite traditional, but it is the fastest one. Any client application of SL NEO platform offers the option of saving its settings to a file using the File→Configure menu in a usual, traditional way.

Saving Air Manager Settings, for instance, is done via the menu AirManager→File→Configure→Save to File/Load from File, saving/loading of window arrangement is done via the menu Air Manager→Window→Save Windows/Load Windows.
